Mission Partners

One of St James in the City's core values is Build.

Our vision is to see God's kingdom built locally, nationally and globally so that people come to know Jesus. We find so much joy in sending and supporting friends across different parts of the world. We also love to support local charities doing mission. We'll try to add some info below about who we support and how you can also support and pray for these mission partners.

Emily Spiers

Emily was a LIPA student who attended St James in the City for 3 years and graduated in 2023. Here's what she's getting up to this year:

In January 2024, I'm off to the beautiful Whitsunday Coast in Australia to do a 'Backpacking Adventure' DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). YWAM's main aim is to help people know God and to make Him known, and the 6 month course is split into two different phases: the lecture phase and the outreach phase. The lecture phase is where I will get to receive teaching and develop my relationship with God (all whilst backpacking around the Whitsunday Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef!) And then the outreach phase allows us to put what we have learnt into practice, going to a whole new country (which I will find out once I arrive in Whitsunday) and making Him known. This could take me to remote villages, tropical rainforests and treks through mountains, spreading God's love and hope from Nation to Nation, e.g. using drama based sketches to tell a story from the Gospel, or just simply chatting and praying for people who have yet to know God.

With a passion for community work, this adventure has been on my heart for a long time and I can't wait to see what God will do in and through me! I would really value your prayers and encouragement for this next season of my life.

Things to pray for: protection for health and travel, financial provision, a support network, and to be able to develop strong relationships with those I encounter. You can also support Emily financially here, and keep in touch with her instagram @em_spiers246
