StJ Media Team
We are the Media Team and we are telling the story of what God is doing at St James — through photo and video.
If you would like to be involved with the Media Team please contact Ben Whitehead - Social Media Coordinator - at ben.whitehead@stj.org.uk
We aim to capture church as it really is — authentic, welcoming, and full of life. Whether it’s worship, teaching, community moments, or quiet details, we’re always looking for ways to reflect the heart of the church through thoughtful, creative media.
Our team values reliability, collaboration, and a willingness to learn. We support one another, share ideas, and grow together in skill and confidence. You don’t need to be perfect — just committed, communicative, and keen to serve.
Safeguarding is central to everything we do. We’re careful about who and what we capture, how footage is stored, and how content is shared. We want everyone to feel safe, respected, and comfortable when they’re in our spaces.
Above all, the Media Team is here to serve the church. We work behind the scenes so that others can engage more deeply, stay connected, and see glimpses of God at work across our community.
Our Aim
The Media Team exists to serve the church by producing high-quality photography and video that reflects the excellence, care, and intentionality of what happens at St James. What we capture represents the church publicly, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Excellence & Standards
We aim for consistency and quality in everything we produce. That means thinking ahead, being prepared, and paying attention to detail — from framing and exposure to audio, timing, and delivery. Excellence isn’t about perfection, but about doing the best we can with what we have.
Preparation & Responsibility
Good media starts before the service or event begins. We plan coverage, check equipment, and understand what moments matter most. On the day, we’re reliable, proactive, and able to make sensible decisions when things change.
Working & Growing Together
Even as a small team, we work in a coordinated way. We communicate clearly, respect each other’s roles, and support one another to deliver the best possible outcome across both photography and video.
Safeguarding & Integrity
We work within safeguarding guidelines at all times. We’re careful about who we capture, how footage is handled, and where content is stored. Acting with integrity and care is part of our commitment to excellence.
Serving the Church Well
Our role is to support worship, teaching, and community life without distraction. We aim to be present, unobtrusive, and professional in how we operate, helping the wider church engage without drawing attention to ourselves.
