We love students at St James.
We want to see you grow in faith and become the amazing person God has created you to be!
We believe that finding a local church that you can call home is one of the most important steps as you start university life – so come along and get stuck in.
The St James in the City student group meets at St James Church on Monday evenings at 7pm. We share food, worship, Bible study & discussion. There's plenty of opportunity to get to know the group (and God) better.
Don't worry if you're new to the Christian faith or haven't been a regular church-goer in the past - we welcome you to come as you are, eat some food, ask some questions and make some friends.
The music group meet to rehearse from 6pm on Monday nights; musicians & singers, you are welcome to join us! Contact Matt for more information.
The Alpha course also runs alongside student group, so come along at 7pm and do the Alpha course if you’d like to.
A number of people within our Church family offer mentoring support to students, and we’d love to team you up with a mentor to support you as you grow in faith.
We also run a mid-week congregation called "The Brewery" at Handyman Bar on Smithdown road. This space is intentionally missional, and unashamed in worship. We spend an hour catching up over a drink, and then run an optional worship space in the back of the bar. The Brewery is designed to make it as easy as possible to invite your friends into Christian community and to introduce them to Jesus. Meet the Family
Our 10:30am and 4pm services are the best opportunity to meet with our wider church family and worship with all ages. We're blessed at St James to have young families and more mature Christians in our congregation. We can learn so much from doing life with people outside of our age-group! Let's make the most of it on Sundays.
What does church look like?
Sunday services at St James take place under canvas in our tent within the old building of St James.
Each service features live contemporary worship music with a challenging sermon, prayer, bible reading and ministry time. We celebrate Holy Communion together once a month.
At the end of the service, you need not rush off and cook your own tea, as food and drink are provided. Plus, having a bite to eat gives us chance to get to know each other better!
What's best for you?
It's so important that every student is part of an engaging Christian community. Whether it's Sunday Church, a midweek group, through the CU , Just Love, or all of the above, we encourage you to be involved in the best ways to grow in your own faith journey.
