Serve

serve

One of the best ways to get involved at St James and to meet new people is to join one of our serving teams. Every aspect of running our Sunday service and midweek activities is important and fun! You're also never too young so we love it when our kids and youth sign up too!

Email the office to sign up for any of the below via: info@stj.org.uk

Welcome Team

We love to give everyone who walks through the door of St James a warm welcome. Are you good with names and keen to make people feel at home? Join our welcome team.

Refreshments

We have plenty of food and cuppas on Sundays! Are you good with a toaster? Could you join our refreshments team and help set up and serve the refreshments? This team could be for you.

STJ Kids

At St James, we're privileged to have a lot of young families worshipping with us. We provide children's groups during both the morning and afternoon services and are often in need of an extra pair of hands. Do you have a passion for seeing children grow in relationship with Jesus? Are you prepared to have a lot of fun in the process? Join our team as a leader or helper by speaking to Jerome (Jerome.Daniels@stj.org.uk)

Worship Team

We love to worship God with music and singing at St James, and we're blessed to have skilled musicians leading us on Sundays. Do you feel called to serve God with your musical gifting? The worship team often lead at other churches or events around the city and in 2020, they made a Christmas EP too! Speak to Worship Pastor, Oli about getting involved.

Sound Desk

It's always great when you can hear what the person at the front of church is saying. In order to achieve this, and other special effects, we have a skilled team of sound desk operators who help us get our talks and music sounding crystal clear. If you're a sound technician or would like to learn the ropes, sign up with our Worship Pastor, Oli!

Laptop & Projection

One thing we're famous for at St James is our Video News - a short film showing our latest news and notices. We also use liturgy from time to time and like to read our song lyrics from the screen. There is always someone clicking the mouse to ensure that this goes (moderately) smoothly. Do you have good computer skills? Come and help us out with this valuable ministry. Again Oli Rugg heads up this team!

Grounds Maintenance

St James Church is surrounded by quite extensive grounds, regularly used by the public. We try our best to keep the grass looking tidy, litter to a minimum and the pathway clear and safe. Volunteers help us do this! (No gardening experience required).

Youth

We love Youth at St James! They meet on Thursday nights 6:30-8pm for games, tuck shop, sports, bible study and fun! And again on Sunday afternoons during the 4pm service. These youth events would not run without faithful , fun and committed volunteers. Get in touch with Lydia Courtney if you'd like to get involved!

STJ Minis

Minis is on Thursday mornings and it's a place where babies and toddlers with their parents and guardians get looked after, have fun, chat and build community. We're always on the look out for extra helpers: set up, teas and coffees or chatting with parents and keeping an eye on the kids! Speak to Rachel Harley if you'd like to get involved!

All our rotas can be found on Church Suite, our church management system. Please contact the office if you would like login details. The list above is also not exhaustive, so if you have a gift or a way you'd like to serve, get in touch!
